Ford Ranger varinats

As can be noticed, their five primary trims - the XL, XLT, XLT+, and Wildtrack. With each as suggested by their name comes with transmission choices. However, apart from the apparent gear shift (manual to automatic), there are a few specs change as well. And that’s the reason for their individual listing and significant price change. So, let’s get started and see what each of the new Ford Ranger variants have on offer, starting with the base variant, the 2.2L XL Single Cab Manual.

2019 Ranger

This Ford Ranger trim is powered by a 2.2-litre inline-four with Variable Geometry Turbo engine. This mill produces 160 PS at 3200 rpm and 385 Nm at 1600-2600 rpm. The transmission duty is handed over to a 6-speed manual unit. Further enhancing its abilities are an electronic shift-on-the-fly 4X4 system and limited slip differential. Built on a 4X4 High Rider chassis, the Ranger is the new tough guy of town to ride along. Speaking of which, a double wishbone with coil spring on the front and leaf spring on the rear does suspension duty. As for the brake, there is a ventilated disc up front and drums at the back.

2019 RANGER SINGLE CAB SIDE

Time to discuss the styling part, it showcases a huge black grill at the front that’s supported by halogen reflector headlights (with manual levelling). Unlike many, the Ranger base trim also gets daytime running lights. Down below are also present fog lamps, a pair of which is also present at the back. Moving to the side, it has 16-inch alloys wheels, side step, and powered side mirrors. The cargo area gets LED lights, Bedliner, and comes with a capacity of 1180-litre.

As for the interior, it’s all black and comes with ample functionalities to support a power-packed ride. The driver’s arena gets control mounted urethane steering wheel with EPAS. Included in the package are manual single-zone climate control, 12V socket, a two-way adjustable manual seats audio head unit with USB, and driver-side power window.

RANGER XL INTERIOR

Features like a dual airbag, Immobiliser, ISOFIX, ABS with EBD, EBA, ESC, Hill Descent Control, Hill Launch Assist, and Adaptive Load Control Trailer Sway Control, guard the safety front.

Coming to the 2.2L XL Double Cab Manual variant, it tallies the spec sheet of the Single Cab trim with four instead of two speakers on offer.

Ford Ranger 2019 gearbox

As for the 2.2L XL Double Cab Automatic, it also replicates the base Ranger specifications. With just a slight change in its mechanical specs, i.e., a 6R80 6-speed automatic gearbox instead of the manual unit.

With this, we round-up the Ranger XL variant. Now, moving on to the XLT trim types.

2019 ranger XLT

While both the XLT manual and automatic options display the same performance tuning as the base trim. Note, they get a 6-speed manual, and 6R80 6-speed automatic gearbox, respectively. The only difference comes in the form of a few exterior, interior, and safety add-ons.

Include in the list are automatic halogen projector headlamps, chrome grille, power adjustable ORVM with turn indicators, 17-inch wheels, and sports bar. The interior of the XLT variants gets leather steering (unlike fabric in XL), four-way manual driver’s adjustable seat, cruise control, and auto dimming rear view mirror. Reverse camera and volumetric burglar alarm system are the added safety bits to the XLT package.

2019 RANGER XLT REAR

Time to move on to Ranger XTL+ variant. This is where major under the hood change comes in. A 2.0-litre Si-turbo in-line mill powers it and produces 180 PS at 3500 rpm along with 420 Nm at 1750-2500 rpm. For transmission, it gets the much talked about 10R80 10-speed automatic unit with SelectShift. The exterior receives a pair of automatic HID projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, and easy lift tailgate.

2019 RANGER xlt cabin

On the inside, it gets more advanced and hi-tech. On the list are present SYNC 3 8-INCH touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone auto climate control, instrument panel with dual four-inch screens, keyless push-start button, Ford MyKey, colled centre console, and leather upholstery. Safety remains the same as the XL trim (with the XLT add-ons).

Ford Ranger 2.0L Wildtrack 4X2 Automatic

Time to discuss the Ranger Wildtrack variants. Starting with the Ford Ranger 2.0L Wildtrack 4X2 Automatic. Under the hood, it offers the same mechanical configuration as the XLT+. However, it also gets an e-Locking rear differential. The exterior of a Ranger Wildtrak can be differentiated via the Wildtrack exclusive radiator grille and sport rails. It also gets fort LED fog lamps, puddle lamps, polished 18-inch alloys, Bedliner with 12V socket, and roof rails.

Ford Ranger 2.0L Wildtrack interior

The inside of a Wildtrack features GPS Navigation, eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat, premium leather/fabric set, and 230-volt outlet as add-ons. The safety kit gets further improved with a tailgate lock, and side and curtain airbag (six in total). This variant misses out on Hill Descent Control feature.

Ford Ranger Wildtrack

The Ranger Wildtrack 4X4 trim though powered by the same 2.0-litre mill, it gets tuned with a bi-turbo setup. It churns out 213 PS at 3750 rpm and 500 Nm at 1750-2000 rpm. Add-on cabin features include Active Noise Cancellation. As for safety, it further gets strengthened with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Semi-Automatic Parallel Parking, and Autonomous Emergency Braking along with pedestrian and vehicle detection.
