2020 Volvo XC90 to arrive in Malaysia soon

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the most popular SUVs in the country, Volvo XC90 will make its Malaysia debut soon with a plethora of modification. The facelifted seven-seater SUV will come with 2020 model year and will feature a new mild-hybrid powertrain along with new styling details and additional equipment.

2020 Volvo XC90 will be the manufacturer’s first model to get the brand’s new mild-hybrid mill. The hybrid system comprises a KERS kinetic energy recovery system, a 48-volt battery, an integrated starter generator, and a 2.0-litre engine. The engine can make a maximum power of 235 hp. The new system helps to reduce fuel usage by up to 15% and also provide fewer NOx emissions compared to the current D5 XC90.

As per the battery, the capacity is not the same as that of the XC90’s T8 Twin Engine petrol-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain (10.4 kWh). The capacity increases to 11.8 kWh. As a result, the car’s electric-only driving range will be bumped up from 35 Km to 46 Km.

Styling-wise, the car comes with a new grille, and the front bumper gets a lowered layout. The fresh air intakes are available, and the alloy wheels adorn new designs. The dual integrated exhaust tailpipes and the integrated roof rails come standard to the entire range.

As of the R-Design versions, the new black high-gloss finish is provided for the design trim that includes window frames, roof rails, and door mirror casings. There are several new color options as Thunder Grey, Birch Light, and Pebble Grey

Inside the cabin, the XC90 facelift comes with a nine-inch multimedia touchscreen that supports the voice-activated control. Along with these, access to Volvo On Call connected services platform and navigation system are also provided.
