
KUALA LUMPUR: Jeep pulled the wraps off the all-new 2022 Wrangler powered by a 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain for the European market. This marks a major milestone in the automaker's history and a further step towards its full electrification. The new version is touted as the most capable, powerful, eco-friendly, and technically advanced Wrangler ever.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain comprises a 2.0-litre four-popper engine, two electric motors, and a 17-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The combined output is rated at 380 PS and 637 Nm of torque. The setup is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that transmits the power to all four wheels. On the performance front, the off-road SUV can hit the century sprint in 6.4 seconds.
With the help of a 7.4 kWh charger, the SUV gets charged in less than 3 hours, offering a fully electric range of 50 km on the urban WLTP cycle.

Jeep also brings onboard a new Sunrider Flip top by Mopar joining the several top combinations already available with the SUV. Included in the new paint options are High-Velocity Metallic Clear Coat, Silver Zynith Metallic Clear Coat, and two special-run shades - Tuscadero and Gobi.
Inside the cabin, the Jeep Wrangler is now fitted with an advanced 8.4-inch touchscreen display mated to NAV Uconnect system that supports the latest Uconnect Services such as My Assistant, My Car, My Remote, My Alert, and My eCharge.
In terms of safety, the new Jeep Wrangler gets a number of advanced driver-assistance systems like blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, automatic high beam headlamp control, full-speed forward collision warning plus with advanced brake assist, adaptive cruise control with stop function, rearview camera, and park assist.
While Jeep has not yet announced the 2022 Wrangler 4xe price, it has started taking orders for the updated SUV in Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Serbia. More markets will be added soon.
