KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi gave an important update to its top-selling Xpander SUV back in November. The new version gets a more striking design, new features, and some important changes under the skin. Well, the good news is that the new Mitsubishi Xpander is set to make its way to Thailand now. As per the reports of Headlightmag, the revamped SUV will launch in the neighbouring market sometime in March.

    Speaking about the exterior upgrades available with the revamped Xpander, the SUV features a significantly revised front design with new LED headlights incorporated in a T-shaped casing. At the rear, there are restyled LED lights, bumper as well as tailgate while on the sides, it boasts new 17-inch machined two-tone alloy wheels. On the colour palette, the automaker added a new shade called Blade Silver Metallic.

    Not only design, but the facelifted Xpander also has a few changes on the dimensions. It is now 20 mm taller with a slightly grown front and rear overhang. The ground clearance increased from 220 to 225 mm (highest in the segment).

    Getting inside, here we see several new and improved elements like a new horizontal axis design dashboard and a redesigned steering wheel. There is also a new instrument panel and a new 8-inch audio head unit with smartphone connectivity. Other added bits are an electric parking brake, new digital air-con controls, a rear USB charging port on the floor console, and a 3rd-row power outlet.

    Under the hood, the new Xpander continues to be equipped with the same 1.5-litre inline four cylinder petrol engine that kicks out a maximum power output of 105 PS and a peak torque of 141 Nm. However, the engine has a new external exhaust gas recirculation system for better mileage. The transmission is also new with the facelifted version i.e. CVT.

    Added to the under-the-skin upgrades is a revised suspension system that offers more comfort with new high-performance damper valves at both front and rear ends.
