Toyota Veloz Hybrid up for grabs in Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: After introducing the Veloz Hybrid at the 2025 Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week last year, Toyota Indonesia has now begun sales of the electrified MPV. 

Most affordable hybrid MPV in Indonesia

Touted as the most-affordable full-hybrid MPV in the country, the Veloz Hybrid is offered in four variants -  V, Q, Q Modellista and Q TSS Modellista, priced as follows - 

• V - IDR 308 million (RM 71k)
• Q -  IDR 325 million (RM 75k) 
• Q Modellista -  IDR 350 million (RM 80k) 
• Q TSS Modellista - IDR 385 million (RM 89k)

A hybrid engine suitable for a family MPV

Toyota’s new electrified MPV uses a 2NR-VEX Series-Parallel Hybrid engine, combining a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Dual-VVT-i engine, an electric motor, and a 0.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. 

The engine generates a maximum power of 91 PS at 5,500 rpm and 121 Nm of torque at 4,000- 4,800 rpm, while the e-motor contributes an additional 80 PS and 141 Nm. Together, the setup delivers a combined output of 111 PS. Power is sent to the wheels via an e-CVT gearbox.

Toyota claims that this hybrid technology is capable of delivering more than 40% better fuel efficiency over the ICE-powered Veloz.

Sportier and premium appearance

Compared to the ICE version, the Veloz Hybrid boasts a sportier and more premium appearance with dark chrome elements instead of chrome. While the front fascia retains the same shape, it features a distinctive look for each trim, with a piano black finish for the Q variants. Toyota also offers a more premium and elegant Modellista body kit with the higher spec models. 

Spacious and comfortable cabin

The MPV measures 4,475 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. The ground clearance is estimated at 205 mm, providing flexibility for manoeuvring on light off-road routes or over rough roads. The seats are designed for flexible configuration, even transforming into a sofa. 

Depending on the variant picked, the MPV comes equipped with the following advanced features -

• 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit
• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto 
• Panoramic View Monitor 
• Toyota Safety Sense, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alerts 
• Integration with T-Connect / m-Toyota app 

With the launch of the Veloz Hybrid, Toyota aims to set new standards in the family MPV category in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness, affordability, and ease of maintenance.
