2025 Subaru Forester launched in Malaysia, here’s all you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: After opening order books earlier this month, Subaru has now launched the all-new sixth-gen Forester in Malaysia. The upgraded model is offered in a sole 2.5i-S EyeSight CBU variant, priced at RM 221,500 (on-the-road without insurance). Included in the price is a five-year/100,000 km manufacturing warranty accompanied by five years of free service.

Dimensions

The new Forester measures 4,655 mm in length (up by 15 mm), 1,830 mm in width (up by 15 mm), and 1,730 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. The ground clearance is estimated at 220 mm.

The SUV comes with a 504-litre standard boot space, which is expandable up to 1,727 litres with folded rear seats.

Exterior 

The new Forester has a bolder and boxier appearance with cleaner bumper designs and rugged fenders. It features new lighting units and a fresh set of alloy wheels.

Engine and transmission

Under the bonnet lies a 2.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine that kicks out a maximum power of 185 PS at 5,800 rpm and a peak torque of 247 Nm at 3,700 rpm. 

The engine is paired to Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT gearbox, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, and dual-function X-Mode. In terms of performance, the vehicle runs from zero to 100 kmph in 9.7 seconds and hits a top speed of 205 kmph. 

Ride and handling 

Based on an enhanced Subaru Global Platform, the upgraded model features a 10% increase in body rigidity for improved ride comfort and reduced noise, along with a 30% increase in body torsional rigidity. It also benefits from improved aerodynamics for greater stability on the road.

Safety 

As for safety, the new Subaru SUV comes packed with eight airbags and the Enhanced EyeSight 4.0 system that uses an additional monocular camera and offers a wider detection range. The pack includes -
