2025 Volvo XC40 B5 Plus bookings open in Malaysia; check what’s new

KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia has started accepting bookings for the all-new XC40 B5 Plus. If you notice, the 2025 Volvo XC40 gets the ‘Plus’ suffix, unlike the previous model bearing the ‘Ultimate’ tag. Well, it might represent that the Swedish automaker is not planning to phase out this model anytime soon.

So, what does this refreshed model with the ‘Plus’ tag bring to the table?

The  XC40 B5 Plus is identical to the outgoing 2024 model in terms of design, dimensions, and mechanical setup, however, it benefits from an upgraded equipment kit and a more comprehensive warranty package. The revisions include -

Pixel Headlights

The SUV gets new ‘Pixel Headlights’ featuring intuitive sensors. The new lighting units can adjust brightness dynamically and offer drive-optimized visibility. It also prevents glare for oncoming traffic.

19-inch alloy wheels

The upgraded Volvo XC40 rides on a fresh pair of aerodynamically designed 19-inch alloy wheels. This not only adds to the SUV’s aesthetics but also offers improved fuel efficiency.

New exterior shade 

Volvo has also expanded the colour palette for the XC40 for the 2025 model year. It now comes with a new Cloud Blue shade, along with existing Onyx Black, Crystal White, Silver Dawn, and Sage Green shades.

Android-powered infotainment

Inside, the customers get a new and improved Android-powered infotainment unit with built-in Google services. It promises seamless integration with Google Assistant, Google Maps, and more.

5-year complimentary digital services

Volvo Cars Malaysia also offers an upgraded Digital Services package with the upgraded XC40 B5 Plus, which is now complimentary for five years rather than four. It provides extended access to remote functions via the Volvo Cars app, alongside Google Play Store services.

As mentioned, the new XC40 B5 Plus carries the same tried and tested mild-hybrid engine setup under the bonnet. It combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, for a combined system output of 263 hp and 390 Nm. The power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission.

The advanced safety kit continues to feature smart technologies such as front and rear collision warning and mitigation support, run-off road protection, a whiplash protection system, a blind spot information system with steer assist, lane keep assist, 360-degree parking view, cross-traffic alert with auto braking and many more.

Speaking of the price, the new Volvo XC40 B5 Plus is priced at RM 278,888 (on the road, without insurance), which is RM 10,000 higher than the outgoing model.
