KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo has introduced an all-new, striking version of its award-winning EV, the EX30, in the UK. Named as the EX30 Black Edition, the latest model boasts an eye-catching new look with exclusive design enhancements inside and out.

Volvo introduced the Black Edition lineup in 2023 with the XC60. The range has expanded to six models, including XC90, XC60, XC40, EX40, EC40, and EX30.The EX30 Black Edition is available on Plus and Ultra trim levels across the Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor Performance Powertrains. The price starts from GBP 40,060, equivalent to RM 212,598.
So, what makes the Volvo EX30 Black Edition different from the standard model?
- The Black Edition is sprayed with metallic Onyx Black exterior shade that sparkles in daylight, while reduced light accentuates its elegance.
- The Black edition styling is evident in several exterior details, including a high-gloss black front grille strikethrough, a Black Iron Mark badge, high-gloss black 19-inch wheels, tinted rear windows, a Black rear Volvo script, and a Black model name badge.
- The interior features the deep blue indigo interior colour scheme with studio-inspired textile materials and upcycled denim trims.
In terms of technology, the new Volvo EX30 Black Edition comes equipped with a plethora of advanced systems. It features a 12.3-inch centre display, Volvo’s air quality measurement system with remote cabin air pre-cleaning, the company’s advanced sensing technology (backed by 5 radars, 5 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors), adaptive cruise control, and a powered tailgate for added convenience.
Speaking of drivetrain, the Single Motor Extended Range uses a 272-hp rear-wheel drive motor and a 69 kWh battery pack to cruise up to 475 km on a single charge. It runs from zero to 100 kmph in 5.3 seconds. The Twin Motor Performance variant, on the other hand, is powered by a dual-motor setup generating 428 horsepower. It utilises the same 69 kWh battery pack, delivering a slightly lower driving range of 450 km. Notably, it is Volvo’s fastest-accelerating model, completing the century sprint in just 3.6 seconds.
“The Black Edition variants of our models have struck a chord with buyers in the past, and the EX30 looks really striking with the design additions, giving it even more presence. We are really pleased to offer the Black Edition of our compact premium SUV to customers in the UK,” says Rob Deane, Commercial Operations Director, Volvo Car UK.
The EX30 was the tenth best-selling BEV in the UK last year. With its Black Edition enhancements, the automaker is expected to further boost its appeal.
