992 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S to hit the production soon

KUALA LUMPUR: It seems like the production of the 992 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S will be started soon as the German automaker has been releasing the pre-production examples of the same. The forthcoming Turbo has been spotted in the Nurburgring area.

Current Porsche factory driver, Jörg Bergmeister, has also been spotted taking a photograph with the 992-generation 911 Turbo Cabriolet that comes with the 991-generation Turbo S Exclusive’s wheel design.

The carmaker only informed that a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine would be provided in both standard and Turbo S forms. The Turbo S form engine is likely to make a maximum power of 650 PS, while the peak torque remains 800 Nm. On the other hand, the standard Turbo guise can provide a maximum power of 600 PS. The Turbo S can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.9 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 330 kmph.

It has been confirmed that both Turbo and Turbo S can have an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as the only transmission option. The drive ratio for the 992 Porsche 911 Turbo is similar to the 911 Carrera in the standard guise, while the Turbo S to get a new final drive ratio so that it can attain the proposed top-speed.

The cars may come with electronically controlled limited-slip differential at the rear along with the hydraulically controlled limited-slip unit at the centre. Also, there is a conventional differential at the front. The 911 Turbo S further has Porsche Active Suspension Management having two different modes - Sport and Normal.

Coming to the braking, the 992-generation Turbo S comes with carbon-ceramic discs of 419 mm, which are clamped by 10-piston callipers at the front, while the rear axle features 391 mm brakes.

Equipment-wise, 992-generation Turbo S is to get Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. The front tyre’s measurement is 255/35R20, and the rear tyre’s size is 315/30R21.
