All-new Ferrari 812 Superfast limited edition revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: Ferrari has been working on a special, faster 812 Superfast for a long time; we also have seen numerous spy shots and leaks of the hotter model. And finally, here we get the first official images of the hardcore 812 Superfast limited edition version, which is set for the full reveal on May 5, 2021. While the name of the upcoming supercar is not yet confirmed, it is rumoured to be called the Versione Speciale (Italian for Special Version). 

The special edition 812 uses the new evolution of the V12 naturally aspirated engine, now producing a maximum output of 818 hp with the rev limiter increasing to 9,500 rpm. The new power figures make it the most powerful road-car powertrain Ferrari has ever offered. Included in the power unit modifications are redesigned key components, a new valve timing mechanism, and a new exhaust system. 

Regarding the performance numbers, no details have been released yet. A drop of a few tenths seconds from the Superfast's 2.9 seconds claim is expected.

On the designing front, Ferrari made significant improvements to enhance the appearance as well as aerodynamics of the faster 812. It gets larger front air intakes, an aerodynamic fin on the bumper, and a rear screen with vortex generators merged into the roof for better aerodynamics. Instead of a rear window, here you will find a single-piece body-colored aluminum structure with carbon fibre aero elements. Other visual highlights include a prominent carbon fibre blade on the bonnet, a higher rear spoiler, a new rear diffuser, and a new exhaust system.

The extensive use of lightweight materials resulted in a lighter model, although Ferrari did not reveal any numbers. But it confirmed that the reworked engine and new bodywork will be joined by several important chassis and the debut of the 7.0 version of the Prancing Horse’s Slip Slide Control traction control system.

However, the story is opposite inside the cabin where you will see the same dashboard and door linings as the standard model. Ferrari says that the door panels are redesigned and are now lighter. An H-gate themed gear selector system will also be available inside the 812’s hardcore sibling.
