All-new Honda Civic Type R racing car to make debut in 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda introduced the latest version of the Civic Type R in the global market in July this year, which is still awaited in the local market. Well, here comes a new racing iteration of the hot hatchback, the Civic Type R FL5 TCR.

Development by Honda Performance Development (HPD) and JAS Motorsports, the new Type R TCR will be fully revealed in 2023 ahead of representing the brand in the upcoming IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

What sets the 2023 Honda Civic Type R TCR apart from the standard model includes -

• A brand-new exterior design with an aerodynamic package improving downforce
• A new chassis offering enhanced cornering stability and greater driver safety
• Upgraded braking system
• A special race-prepared version of the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine available under the road-going model, which is paired with a racing transmission 

• An ergonomically-redesigned cabin meeting the norms of the latest FIA global safety standards
• An exclusive multi-channel driver display with a greater range of real-time relevant information, additional lighting, and more enhanced features 
• A heavily-revised ‘quick-fill' fueling system

Honda Performance Development will start accepting the new Civic Type R TCR orders in the US from February 1, 2023, onwards. Pricing details are likely to be announced at the same time.
