KEY TAKEAWAYS
Is there a petrol version of the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLB?
Not a traditional petrol-only model at launch. Mercedes says the new GLB launches first as EVs (GLB 250+ and GLB 350 4MATIC), and a petrol-based option will come later as a 48-volt hybrid range with multiple power levels, with front-wheel drive or 4MATIC.What’s the claimed range and charging speed for the electric GLB?
Mercedes claims up to 631 km (WLTP) for the GLB 250+, using an 85 kWh usable battery. It also highlights an 800-volt system with up to 320 kW DC fast charging, and says up to 260 km (WLTP) can be added in 10 minutes under the specified test conditions.Mercedes also confirms that a 48-volt hybrid range with a combustion engine will follow a few months after launch, offered in three power levels, with front-wheel drive or 4MATIC.

Charging, 800V architecture, up to 320 kW DC
Mercedes highlights an 800-volt electric architecture and quotes fast charging of up to 320 kW DC on 800V-capable chargers. It also states that up to 260 km (WLTP) of range can be added in 10 minutes, based on maximum DC charging power under the relevant testing conditions. The GLB can also use 400V charging infrastructure, with an optional DC converter. AC charging is up to 22 kW.
Seating and practicality, 5 or 7 seats, bigger frunk
The new GLB will be offered as a five-seater or seven-seater. Mercedes highlights a longitudinally adjustable second-row bench to manage passenger space and boot space.
Key storage figures quoted:

Off-road functions, Transparent Bonnet, towing up to 2,000 kg
For 4MATIC variants, Mercedes describes quick front-axle motor engagement when extra traction is needed. The 4MATIC models also get TERRAIN MODE, adjusting drivetrain, steering and brake behaviour for loose surfaces. The Transparent Bonnet feature provides a virtual view under the vehicle to help with manoeuvring on rough terrain.
Mercedes quotes a towing capacity of up to two tonnes for the EV models, and a 100 kg drawbar load.
Driver assistance hardware, MB.DRIVE, OTA updates
Mercedes says the GLB has a broad range of driver assistance systems, and notes DISTRONIC distance control as standard in Europe. It lists the European-region hardware as: eight cameras, five radar sensors, 12 ultrasonic sensors, plus a water-cooled high-performance computer. Mercedes now groups assistance systems under MB.DRIVE, with functions and add-ons handled via Digital Extras, including updates delivered over the air.
Interior tech, MBUX Superscreen, physical controls
A major cabin highlight is the optional MBUX Superscreen, which sits behind one glass surface and includes:
-
10.25-inch driver display
-
14-inch central display
-
14-inch front passenger display
Mercedes also says it has reintroduced physical controls requested by customers, including a rocker switch for the limiter and DISTRONIC, and a roller for volume control. Equipment lines mentioned include Progressive Line, AMG Line, AMG Line Plus, and the Night Package, plus multiple trim and ambient styling options.
MB.OS, AI assistant, Google Maps navigation
The new GLB runs on MB.OS, enabling regular over-the-air updates for key functions. Mercedes states that the latest MBUX integrates AI from Microsoft and Google. It also says the MBUX Virtual Assistant uses generative AI, is “based on ChatGPT4o and searches with Microsoft Bing,” and uses “Google Gemini” for navigation-related questions. Navigation is described as being based on Google Maps, with route planning that can include charging stops.
Mercedes says that from December 8, 2025, customers in Germany can configure and order the GLB EV range online:
