All new Suzuki Baleno arriving at Frankfurt show
Kuala Lumpur: Ahead of its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, Suzuki Baleno has been teased by the Japanese automaker. Suzuki Baleno is a 5-door hatchback that has been created to sit above the Swift as a B-segment car. Going by the official pictures, it resembles in many ways to the iK-2 concept which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. So, one can expect it to be a production version of the iK-2 concept. According to the automaker, this car would be a combination of 'stylish design, spacious interior and new technologies'.
Though nothing much has been revealed by the automaker, but by looking at the released pictures, one can make out that the all-new Baleno has been crafted with tall headlights and distinctive front grille, blacked-out pillars, noteworthy door handles and wing mirrors, a curvaceous side profile along with smaller alloy wheels and a short rear overhang. As suggested by the iK-2 concept, Baleno would be riding on an all-new platform and would be integrated with improved NVH levels. Compared to the current lot of Suzuki's hatchbacks, it would boast of an increased rigidity and a lower kerb weight.
The Suzuki Baleno should have similar dimensions to the iK-2 concept which measure 4023 mm long, 1920 mm wide, 1450 mm tall along with a wheelbase of 2520 mm. With these dimensions, it is all set to challenge its similarly-sized rivals like Honda Jazz and Ford Fiesta. Apart from that, it would be powered by an all-new 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine which would be further assisted by direct-injection fuel system to deliver a better performance and an improved fuel efficiency as well. Moreover, it would be offered with a Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) system. The availability of this model is still unclear as on-sale dates are yet to be revealed.
