Product roll-out, from ICE to EV, HEV and PHEV

Chery says its Malaysia journey began with internal combustion models, starting with the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro, before moving into electrified offerings.

Its first step into EVs came with the Omoda E5 in March 2024, followed by an expansion of the Tiggo range through the Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo Cross Turbo, and Tiggo Cross HEV. The brand then moved into plug-in hybrids with the Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV.

Chery Malaysia also credits the Omoda 5 (launched in 2023 but now called Chery 05) as its best-performing model so far, and says the wider Tiggo line-up has since been built up to cover different buyer needs, including families looking for more space and day-to-day comfort.

The company adds that the Tiggo range has grown into six models (ICE,Hybrid,PHEV), and frames it as a key contributor to its 2025 sales performance as the market shifts toward new energy vehicles.

It says it responded to the Putra Heights, Selangor fire incident by loaning vehicles to 50 affected homeowners, within the same week, to help with daily mobility, moving belongings, and temporary relocation.

Chery Malaysia also says it supports the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN) with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, aimed at funding sporting events, boosting participation, and supporting talent development, citing involvement tied to events such as the Asian Youth Para Games and the Paris Olympic Games.

Separately, the company says it has teamed up with the Belia Mahir Project to help skilled graduates transition into employment, including opportunities within Chery Malaysia.
