Denza Z9GT launched in Malaysia, here’s everything you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: After several official previews, Denza Sime Motors has finally launched the Z9GT in Malaysia. Touted as the country’s most advanced luxury grand tourer, the Denza Z9GT is offered in a single fully imported variant, priced from RM 358,800 (excluding registration, insurance, and road tax).

Notably, the Z9GT is Denza’s third model in the local market, following the D9 and B8, making Malaysia the first market in the Asia-Pacific region outside China to welcome the shooting brake.

Denza Z9GT: Dimensions and design 

The Chinese grand tourer boasts large proportions with a premium executive-class stance. It measures 5,180 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, and spans a 3,125-mm long wheelbase. 

Design-wise, this four-door GT features head-turning looks with a low and aerodynamic silhouette and a hatchback-style opening, reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo. Key exterior highlights include -

Denza Z9GT: Powertrain, performance, and driving dynamics

Built on the e3 Platform, the vehicle incorporates a number of world-first and class-leading functions, based on four core technologies - three-motor independent drive, active rear wheel steering, cell-to-body battery integration, and vehicle motion control.

The tri-motor setup (one at the front, two at the rear) generates a whopping combined power of 1,156 PS and a peak torque of 1,210 Nm, enabling the EV to run from zero to 100 kmph in 2.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 240 kmph. This supercar-level performance makes the Denza Z9GT one of the most powerful cars in its segment.

Beyond this astonishing performance, the shooting brake comes with several clever features, including rear axle steering (with up to 15 degrees of articulation), e3 Parking, Crab Mode for diagonal movement, and a Pencil Compass Turn function that can pivot the EV into tight spots by rotating only the rear wheels. Handling the riding comfort is DiSUS-A dual chamber air suspension that continuously adapts to changing road conditions.

Denza Z9GT: Battery, range, and charging 

The tri-motor setup comes paired with a 122.49 kWh second-gen BYD Blade LFP battery pack, delivering a WLTP-claimed driving range of 600 km. 

The battery runs on a 1,000 V architecture and supports the game-changing BYD Megawatt Flash Charging tech, which is confirmed to arrive in Malaysia in the near future. The latter can juice up a 10 to 70% battery in just five minutes, and 10 to 97% in nine minutes. 

Denza Z9GT: Interior and safety 

Designed for comfort, the new Denza EV has a spacious cabin equipped with intelligent technologies and a smart cockpit. It features soft materials and Nappa leather upholstery, and a wide range of advanced creature comforts - 

• Three screens – a 13.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch ‘floating’ central infotainment unit, and a 13.2-inch front passenger display
• Google's built-in operating system
• Three 50W wireless charging pads

As for safety, this luxury grand tourer comes packed with nine airbags and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. 

Denza Z9GT: Colours

Denza Sime Motors offers the Z9GT in two exterior colours - Rime Gold and Obsidian Black. As for the interior, you get three choices - Dark Chocolate with Red Velvet, Dark Chocolate with Perg Beige, and Full Black with black suede seats.

Denza Z9GT: Warranty 

The Denza Z9 GT warranty and ownership package includes -  

• 6-year/150,000km vehicle warranty
• 6-year complimentary scheduled maintenance service worth RM 10,000
• 8-year/160,000km high voltage battery warranty. 
• 8-year/160,000km drive unit warranty
• 3-year complimentary flash charging service

The company is also offering a free set of Devialet earbuds worth RM 2,000 to the first 99 customers of the Denza Z9 GT.
