First Proton eMAS showroom opens in Shah Alam

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton’s first-ever EV, the eMAS 7, has been creating waves in the Malaysian automotive industry since its launch earlier this month. Building on the excitement, the automaker has now opened the doors of its first official showroom for its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand, Proton e.MAS.

Operated by SG Car Sdn Bhd (SG Car), the first Proton eMAS showroom is located at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam. It has a spacious showroom area that can display up to 14 vehicles (both ICE models and EVs) and a well-equipped service area with 13 hoists.

The opening event was graced by the presence of YB Tuan Lau Weng San, Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly; Roslan Abdullah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON; Mr Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET; and Datuk Andrew Quek, Dealer Owner of SG Car.

Upon launching the new EV-dedicated facility, Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET said, “We are proud to collaborate with SG Car Sdn Bhd in opening the first Proton e.MAS dealership, a testament to our shared vision of bringing sustainable mobility to Malaysians. Our goal is to ensure that these dealerships are more than just point-of-sale locations; they are hubs of education and inspiration, dedicated to showcasing the next generation of EV technology. We are committed to working closely with SG Car to deliver a premium, all-electric experience for Proton e.MAS customers.

Marking a significant step forward in Malaysia’s transition toward carbon neutrality, the Proton e.MAS showrooms will have new and improved standard operating procedures, offering customers enhanced sales and after-sales experiences. The facilities will be manned by trained sales assistants with expertise in guiding first-time EV users through handling and maintaining their new EVs.

PRO-NET will oversee the implementation of all new strategies, providing added value and better customer engagement to Proton EV owners.

With the EV revolution gaining momentum, PRO-NET has appointed a total of 37 eMAS dealers nationwide, with 30 set to be fully operational by 2024.
