G29 BMW Z4 showcased, only sDrive30i to arrive in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Malaysia has previewed the all-new G29 Z4 along with its G20 3 Series. The model previewed is the high-end M40i variant, but the carmaker will only bring the base trim, sDrive30i in Malaysia. However, BMW Malaysia has mentioned that willing buyers can opt for the performance flagship model, the M40i, and for this special orders will be arranged. Also, BMW showcased third-gen G29 Z4 at 2019 BIMS

Speaking of the oily bits, while the performance flagship, M40i is equipped with a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six petrol engine, the base variant, BMW Z4 sDrive30i is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol mill. While the engine in high-end variant belts out a maximum power of 340 hp and peak torque of 500 Nm, the four-cylinder petrol mill in base variant churns maximum power of 258 hp along with peak torque of 400 Nm.

The all-new G29 Z4 is based on the CLAR platform. It has some features common with all-new A90 Toyota Supra like its 3.0-litre straight-six engine (in the M40i variant).

Coming to the previewed G29 BMW Z4, it looks like a pre-production sample. The steering wheel does not have the BMW emblem, and the steering wheel is on the wrong side. The sale of the car will start in May 2019.

The all-new G29 BMW Z4 is expected to come with four color options including Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Francisco Red, and Misano Blue. Moreover, speaking of its interior, the car will be available in three color combination as Magma Red with Black stitching, Cognac with Black stitching, and Black decor with Black stitching

The model is expected to feature a host of new equipment. Some of these are likely to be M Sport suspension, BMW Digital Key, Intelligent Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant, LED headlights, Variable sport steering, Qi Wireless Charging and many more.

G29 BMW Z4 sDrive30i is expected to cost around RM 460,000.
