All-new 2023 BMW Z4 roadster debuts in the US

KUALA LUMPUR: First introduced in 2002, BMW’s pure bred roadster Z4 has been delivering open-top driving pleasure to customers for the last two decades. Well, now the fun is going to be amplified as the automaker has come up with its mid-life update. The all-new Z4 benefits from cosmetic revisions, new exterior paints, and an updated optional equipment kit. Let’s know about these changes in detail.

Starting with the exterior, the new 2023 BMW Z4 gets a revamped mesh-style BMW kidney grille with new inserts for the front air intakes. There is also a new pair of 19-inch M wheels exclusively designed for the roadster. These feature a V-spoke design, Jet Black matte finish, and diamond polished rim edges and are wrapped with 255/35 ZR19 front and 275/35 ZR19 rear tyre.

Rounding off the visual tweaks are new and more contoured side sills along with redesigned side air intakes. The new features added to the optional kit are the M Shadowline Lights and Adaptive LED Headlights.

The striking exterior cues continued with the updated model include sleek upswept headlights, a sculpted hood, sharp body lines, wrap-around tail lights, a soft top and a lid-mounted spoiler. 

New options added to the 2023 BMW Z4 colour palette are Thundernight Metallic purple Portimao Blue Metallic and Skyscraper Grey Metallic.

Inside the new Z4, we can find a driver-focused cockpit layout, with minimal decorative surfaces and two sports seats. The M Sport Package is now a standard fitment with US base-spec sDrive30i trim, which includes an M leather steering wheel, M pedals, M Sport seats, an M footrest for the driver, and a dash upholstered in SensaTec.

Coming to the powertrain, BMW continues to offer the new Z4 with the same engine options coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. These include -

• 2.0-litre twin-turbo inline four-cylinder engine kicking out a maximum power of 255 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm
• 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline six-cylinder unit which makes 382 hp and 500 Nm

The new BMW Z4 will go on sale in the United States before the end of 2022 at a starting price of $52,800 (approximately equal to RM 245,313).
