GWM Malaysia delivers 100 units of Tank 500 HEV

KUALA LUMPUR: The Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors has recently achieved a significant milestone for its luxurious off-road SUV, the Tank 500, in Malaysia. Launched at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 in May, the SUV quickly gained attention and secured 150 bookings within a day. 

Now, after a couple of months, GWM Malaysia has successfully delivered the first 100 units of the Tank 500 to Malaysians. To mark this exciting milestone, it held a special celebration at 1 Utama with its proud new owners.

Positioned as a premium off-road-ready SUV, the 7-seater SUV features intelligent hybrid power, bold appearance and refined comfort, attracting both off-road adventurers and urban drivers seeking capable SUVs.

GWM Tank 500: Key highlights

• Price: The Tank 500 is offered in a sole Ultra variant, fully imported from Thailand; the price tag reads RM 328,800 (on the road, without insurance).

• Dimensions: Based on a ladder frame chassis, the SUV is 5,078 mm long, 1,934 mm wide and 1,905 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. With a ground clearance of 224 mm, the vehicle can handle water depths of up to 800 mm. The cargo space is measured at 1,489 litres (when second and third row seats are folded).
• Exterior: The Tank 500 features a bold and imposing design with a massive chrome grille edged by intelligent LED projector headlights. Other exterior bits include - LED fog light strips, 20-inch multi-spoke wheels shod with Continental CrossContact RX, and electronically extending side steps.

• Engine: Under the bonnet lies a 2.0-litre turbocharged, inline-four generating 244 PS and 380 Nm and a 106 PS/268 Nm electric motor. The hybrid setup delivers a combined output of 346 PS and 648 Nm.
• Transmission: Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed hybrid automatic transmission and part-time selectable four-wheel drive system.
• Off-road features: It is loaded with numerous off-road-focused features, including a front and rear electronic differential lock, an all-terrain system with 11 driving modes, wading depth detection, Tank Turn Assist, Off-road Cruise Control, and more.
• Interior: The thoughtfully laid-out cabin features premium materials and seamless technology integration, taking the driving experience to a whole new level. With a 2-3-2 seating configuration, the interior houses a 14.6-inch infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a head-up display, power-adjustable seats, quilted Nappa leather upholstery, wireless charger, triple-zone climate control system and much more.

• Safety: Equipped with an ultra-high-strength body structure, the SUV features six strategically placed airbags and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies.
• Colours: Three choices - Sun Black, Crystal Grey, and Hamilton White.
