Here’s how Mitsubishi’s lineup performed in the local market in 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: The pickup segment is one of the most popular segments in the Malaysian market. They not only look stylish from the outside but offer great commuting practicality on the inside; good for both private and commercial use. Making them a great two-and-one deal, right?

The Malaysia auto market offers several pickups to its customers and the best among them is from Japan. We are talking about Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia offers one pickup in the local market - the Triton. The company sold 10,520 units last year, making for 18% of the total sales. Compared to 2021, the MPV experienced 12% sales growth. Thus making it Malaysia’s second best-selling non-national pickup.

As for the popular 7-seater crossover MPV, the Xpander, MMM sold 13,794 units last year, contributing 57% to the company’s overall sales. Compared to last year, the MPV saw a 52.2% growth in sales. All these factors contributed to making it the best-selling non-national MPV in Malaysia, for the second time in a row.

“The Triton and Xpander have been a catalyst for our sales growth in FY22. In ending a successful financial year, we will continue to focus on improving customer purchase and service experience to meet the evolving needs of our customers, assuring a seamless experience,” said MMM CEO Shinya Ikeda.

As for MMM’s overall sales in the financial year 2022, the company sold 24,315 units, holding 3.2% of the total market share.
