Jeep Wrangler, Renegade and Compass to present at 2020 CES

KUALA LUMPUR: Jeep is all set to reveal the all-new Wrangler PHEV alongside plug-in hybrid models like the Compass and the Renegade at the 2020 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. While the PHEV versions of the Compass and the Renegade were revealed at the 2019 Geneva International Auto Show, the Wrangler PHEV will be showcased in the metal for the first time.

At the CES, all the three models will carry the new Jeep badge ‘4xe’ which also signifies the brand’s participation and commitment towards automotive electrification. Also, Jeep has announced to offer an electrified version of all models in its line-up by 2022.

The new Wrangler has been spied a few times and it would be interesting to see if Jeep reveals major details at the CES. Although, we doubt but look forward to hearing from the company’s officials at the show.

However, we expect it to come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine along with an electric motor. Not only this setup will help reduce emissions but aid in yielding better fuel economy. It would only be good to travel for a few kilometres in pure electric mode. The official details will, however, clear the picture.

The Jeep Compass and Renegade, on the other hand, are powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged engine that’s supported by an electric motor. The Compass is available with an only power output of 240 PS, whereas, the Renegade in two, 190 PS and 240 PS. The pure electric travel range for both models is 50 km. The top speed is 128 kmph.

According to Jeep, the electric motor will help both models to produce additional torque and quicker acceleration while passing through the challenging terrains. This will be the same case with the all-new Wrangler.

The 2020 CES starts from Jan 7 to Jan 10 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre. Don’t miss it if you are around.
