JeTour Dashing launched in Malaysia: Two variants, from RM110k

KUALA LUMPUR:  JeTour has officially introduced the JeTour Dashing in Malaysia, marking the brand’s entry into Malaysia as well as the local compact SUV segment with a sharp-looking crossover available in two variants — Comfort and Prime.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What engine powers the JeTour Dashing in Malaysia?

Both the Comfort and Prime variants of the JeTour Dashing are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 156 PS and 230 Nm, paired with a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
  • How does the JeTour Dashing compare in size to other SUVs?

The JeTour Dashing is dimensionally similar to C-segment SUVs like the Proton X70, Toyota Corolla Cross, and Honda CR-V, measuring 4,590 mm long with a 2,720 mm wheelbase for spacious cabin room.
  • What are the key differences between the Comfort and Prime variants?

The Prime variant adds premium features like a panoramic sunroof, 360° camera, blind spot monitoring, a powered tailgate, wireless phone charging, and ventilated seats — upgrades not found on the Comfort.
  • While the name may sound flamboyant, what you’re getting is a reasonably sized SUV with a focus on design, features, and pricing, rather than performance flair.

Pricing for the two variants are as below:

JeTour Dashing TCI Comfort - RM109,800

JeTour Dashing TCI Prime - RM116,800

Both variants come with a standard package of five free service, seven years or 150,000km vehicle warranty and 10 years or 1,000,000km engine warranty.

Just with most car launches these days, there is an early bird package, and in the case of the JeTour Dashing, the first 500 customers are eligible for a RM2,000 cash rebate.

If you're unfamiliar with the brand, JeTour is an automotive brand established by Chery Holding Group on January 22, 2018. Initially introduced as a product series, JeTour evolved into an independent subsidiary brand in 2021, focusing primarily on the SUV market segment.

The brand name "JeTour" combines "jet" and "tour," which they say symbolises their commitment to providing a "convenient journey" for consumers.

In Malaysia, Jetour operates independently from Chery Malaysia and enters the market directly from China. The models showcased at the launch are fully imported (CBU), but plans are already underway to establish a local CKD assembly plant in Johor.

One of the key moments at the launch was the signing ceremony between Berjaya Assembly Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Berjaya Assets Bhd) and JETOUR Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Officiated by Mr. Ke Chuandeng and Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan, this agreement marks an important step in their partnership to bring JETOUR models to Malaysia through local CKD assembly.

    Powertrain and Mechanical Basics

Under the hood of both Comfort and Prime is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 156 PS at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 4,000 rpm.

Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (wet type), and drivers can toggle between Eco and Sport driving modes.

Both variants ride on a MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link setup at the rear, with ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the back. Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold is standard across the range.

    Size and segment

Dimensionally, the Dashing stands toe-to-toe with most C-segment crossovers such as the Proton X70, Toyota Corolla Cross and Honda CR-V, offering a well-proportioned body that balances style and practicality.

It measures 4,590 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm that promises decent cabin space for both front and rear passengers.

Ground clearance is rated at 160 mm, which is typical for urban SUVs, while boot capacity stands at 486 litres, expanding to 977 litres with the rear seats folded down.

The fuel tank can hold up to 57 litres, and the Dashing seats five comfortably. As for weight, the Comfort variant tips the scales at 1,513 kg, while the more feature-rich Prime comes in at 1,553 kg.

    Exterior and Features

JeTour has packed a surprising amount of exterior kit into both variants. Standard are automatic LED headlamps, LED DRLs, frameless front and rear wipers, concealed door handles, keyless entry/start, remote engine start, and power-folding heated mirrors with LED welcome lighting.

The Prime variant adds a panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, and larger 19-inch wheels (vs 18-inch on Comfort). It also gets a powered tailgate — a premium touch that’s missing on the entry-level Comfort.

    Interior and Infotainment

Inside, both variants share a common cabin layout, finished in black and red leather, with a soft-touch dashboard and a pair of 10.25-inch LCD screens.

Wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, while both air-conditioning and the infotainment system can be controlled via touch and voice commands.

The Comfort model offers a manual anti-glare rear-view mirror, manual 4-way front passenger seat, and 4 speakers and even an arm rest cubby space with cooling. The Prime steps up with:

    • Electric 4-way front passenger seat
    • 6-speaker audio
    • 50W wireless phone charger
    • Interior ambient lighting
    • Illuminated vanity mirrors

    Safety and Driver Assistance

Safety-wise, the Comfort model comes with Cruise Control, rear parking sensors, and a rear camera with guidelines. The Prime steps things up significantly with:

    • 360° surround view camera
    • 180° transparent underbody view
    • Blind Spot Detection (BSD)
    • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
    • Door Open Warning (DOW)
    • Lane Change Warning (LCW)

Both variants are equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety systems, including:

    • ABS, EBD, EBA, TCS, ESC, HHC, HDC, RMI, DBF
    • 6 airbags (front, side, curtain)
    • TPMS, ISOFIX, and auto door locks/unlocks based on speed/collision
    • Speed warning system and engine immobiliser

    Colour

The JeTour dashing comes in five colours, including Carbon Black, Phantom Grey, Aurora Green, Khaki White and Hematite red.

    Final Thoughts

The JeTour Dashing doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it doesn’t pretend to offer sporty performance or badge prestige. Instead, it’s a tech-heavy, well-equipped Chinese SUV with a turbo engine and an interior spec list that could make some mainstream rivals nervous.

While the Comfort variant is already decently specced for urban family use, the Prime clearly offers better value for those who care about visibility, comfort, and safety tech — assuming the price gap isn’t too large. JeTour may be a new name here, but the Dashing makes a bold first impression.

Mr Ke Chuandeng, Vice President of JETOUR Auto emphasised the importance of modern-day vehicles incorporating technologically advanced features as a proactive way to progress the local automotive landscape.

“The introduction of Dashing represents not just JETOUR's entry into Malaysia's SUV segment, but a redefinition of what consumers should expect in this competitive market,” said Mr Ke.

“Malaysian drivers have long sought a vehicle that delivers exceptional value without compromising on quality, technology, or design - and Dashing fulfills that precise market need. We’ve created a premium SUV that stands out in a crowded landscape by delivering what matters most to discerning Malaysian consumers.”

To support the launch of the Dashing, JETOUR is quickly expanding its network in Malaysia. Over 30 sales and service outlets are apparently already open, with more than 30 new 3S and 4S centres planned for 2025.

These will cover key areas in both Peninsular and East Malaysia, including Selangor, Penang, Ipoh, Seremban, Melaka, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak. J

JeTour has also secured a nationwide supply of spare parts, showing its strong commitment to after-sales support in the country.
