Jetour joins Malaysia Sarong Music Run again,T2 i-DM to launch at event and RM15k rebates

KUALA LUMPUR: Jetour Malaysia is returning to the Malaysia Sarong Music Run for the second year in a row, but this time there is something more substantial attached to the event.

The brand will officially unveil the T2 i-DM, its first plug-in hybrid model for Malaysia, on the main stage at KLCC on the night of Saturday, 19 September.

Jetour was already the title sponsor and official car partner for the 2025 edition, so seeing the brand back again is hardly unexpected.

The more interesting part is what comes with it this year: a new PHEV finally entering the Malaysian market, along with a round of Malaysia Day rebates worth as much as RM15,000 on selected models.

What is happening on the day

Jetour will have two booths running during the event, one at the Race Village at KLCC and another at Pavilion Bukit Bintang. The Dashing, VT9, T2 and T1 will all be on display, while the T2 i-DM will be shown as a preview ahead of its official launch later that evening.

There will also be a Jetour Owners Convoy involving existing owners, which is fairly typical brand-community activity.

The Malaysia Sarong Music Run itself features both 3km and 5km categories. Once the running is done, the evening programme continues with a drone show and a live concert beneath the Petronas Twin Towers.

Jetour ties the whole thing back to its Travel+ philosophy, the marketing theme it uses across much of its brand activity. Take the corporate language out of it, though, and the formula is fairly straightforward: a couple of display booths, an owners' convoy and a new-car launch inside a music festival.

The T2 i-DM, and what we already know

Jetour has yet to release the complete Malaysian specification for the T2 i-DM, with the final details expected on launch night. The model has, however, been open for booking since June, so there is already a fair amount we know about it.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged direct-injection engine working together with two electric motors and a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Combined output is rated at 360 PS and 610 Nm.

Jetour claims more than 100km of electric-only driving range, while total combined range is quoted at 1,200km. Level 2 ADAS, six airbags and a panoramic view monitor are also listed as standard equipment.

When bookings opened, the estimated price was RM168,888. That puts it roughly RM12,000 above the petrol-powered T2, which carries a nett price of RM156,800.

For now, that RM168,888 figure should still be treated as an estimate until Jetour announces the official price on launch night.

If it lands around that figure, the T2 i-DM will sit directly in the same playground as the Jaecoo J7 PHEV and the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV. On the more affordable scale you have the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV and Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV sitting nearby for buyers who are looking for maximum value.

The rebates, and what they really amount to

Jetour Malaysia is also running a set of Malaysia Day promotions across its existing range:

• Jetour T1 1.5L TGDi 2WD – RM2,000 rebate for the first 2,000 registered customers
• Jetour T2 2.0TD XWD – RM2,000 rebate
• Jetour Dashing Prime – RM10,000 rebate
• Jetour VT9 Prime – RM15,000 rebate

A RM10,000 rebate on the Dashing Prime and RM15,000 off the VT9 Prime amount to roughly eight and 12 percent off their respective list prices. Both are also the oldest products currently in Jetour Malaysia's line-up, having been introduced in 2025.

Jetour Malaysia has expanded quickly since establishing itself here in 2024, and the arrival of the T2 i-DM fills one of the more obvious gaps in its range. With electrified SUVs now offered by most of its major rivals, Jetour will finally have a plug-in hybrid of its own in the Malaysian market.
