KEY TAKEAWAYS
Where is the Leapmotor C10 assembled in Malaysia?
The Leapmotor C10 is assembled at Stellantis Malaysia's manufacturing plant in Gurun, Kedah. When will the Leapmotor B10 be locally assembled in Malaysia?
Stellantis Malaysia has indicated that local assembly of the Leapmotor B10 is expected to begin by the end of 2026.The Gurun facility has been handling Stellantis' Malaysian manufacturing operations for some time, but this marks its first foray into electric vehicle assembly.
To get the line ready for Leapmotor's more complex EV architecture, Stellantis put in EUR 2.23 million for localised assembly development, with a further EUR 3.1 million in capital expenditure earmarked for production line and infrastructure upgrades at the site.

Isaac Yeo, Managing Director of Stellantis ASEAN, said: "The start of Leapmotor's local assembly operations at our Gurun plant is a landmark achievement that places Malaysia at the forefront of EV industrialisation in the ASEAN region. As a crucial pillar within Stellantis APAC region for global growth, Malaysia is uniquely positioned to drive our regional expansion and lead by example. By leveraging Stellantis' strategic partnership with Leapmotor, we are not only accelerating Stellantis' regional electrification roadmap, but delivering high-tech, accessible mobility solutions for consumers while upskilling our manufacturing capabilities."
On the workforce side, technical staff and assembly operators at Gurun have gone through specialised training to handle Leapmotor's software-heavy vehicle architecture.
Everyone on the floor is now certified to work with high-voltage EV systems up to 800V, which is a meaningful step toward building up Malaysia's technical talent base for an industry that's increasingly electrified.
Production quality isn't being left to chance either. Leapmotor and Stellantis are running a shared global framework for assembly and quality compliance, and the Gurun operations have already passed validation by Stellantis' multidisciplinary teams as well as Malaysian and international regulatory bodies.
For now, vehicles coming off the line are destined for the Malaysian market. But Stellantis says it's also scoping out potential export opportunities to other ASEAN markets from the Gurun base, though nothing has been confirmed on that front yet.
