Meet BMW’s fastest electric SUV, the iX M60

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW introduced the M50 high-performance variant of the i4 all-electric sedan last year, and now it’s iX SUV turn to get the M treatment. The fully electric SAV arrives in a new iX M60 avatar, which is said to be the fastest and most powerful iX to date. While there is little cosmetic difference between the M60 and standard iX, the former gets lots of extra power and standard equipment.

The electric powertrain of the new iX M60 comes with a double inverter comprising two M-specific electric motors, which combinedly produce a maximum power output of 618 PS and a peak torque of 1,015 Nm in Sport Mode. The latter can be further boosted to 1,100 Nm with Launch Control. These figures only make the iX M60 the most powerful electric BMW yet but also the torquiest one ever.

The all-wheel-drive SAV can run from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds before attaining a top speed of 250 kmph. 

The lithium-ion battery pack of the high-performance iX M60 has a capacity of 106.3 kWh, just like the lesser trims. It offers a driving range of up to 450 km (280 miles) according to the brand’s initial EPA estimate. As for charging, the SUV supports both 11 kW AC charging and 200 kW DC fast-charging. With the latter, the EV can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 35 minutes.

Included in the mild exterior changes are the M60 badge on the boot lid, the 21-inch Aero Bi-color Wheels, and blue-painted M-branded brake calipers. BMW Individual Titanium Bronze exterior package and 22-inch wheels are available as optional.

The BMW iX M60 will hit the US market in June 2022 with a price tag of $105,100 (excluding destination and handling fees), which is approximately equal to RM 440,501.
