Mercedes-Benz Malaysia previews V167 GLE 450
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia showcased the new V167 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 at its ongoing ‘Hungry for Adventure Festival’. The fourth-gen GLE 450 is a premium SUV and will be a part of the Stuttgart’s midrange vehicles, which was previously called the M-class.
Alongside previewing the GLE 450, the MBM also launched its locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic Coupe at the festival. The event, which is being held at Sentul Depot in Kuala Lumpur, started today and will continue until 24 March. Visitors will also get the opportunity to steer the range of Mercedes-Benz models. Besides displaying its cars, the company has also organised adventure activities like flying fox and rock climbing, reverse bungee jumping, virtual cycling challenge, and offered plenty of playground space for children.
Coming to the vehicle in the discussion, the V167 GLE 450 arrives with the new Modular High Architecture (MHA) and dresses up in the brand’s latest design language. To start with the exterior, the new GLE features trapezoidal headlights and a metal grille with numerous vents. The number plate sits below the grille, which is followed by an aggressive front bumper.
The rear of the SUV is highlighted by a wide C-pillar that looks like a continuation of the roof spoiler. The slim taillights are parallelogram-shaped, and a matt-finished rear diffuser with the integration of dual exhausts is also present at the back.
Peeking inside, one would be welcomed with a panoramic sunroof, brushed aluminium dashboard trim, and a lengthy centre console with leather-covered handles. Thereafter, the interior features a 12.3-inch infotainment display which is connected with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). The MBUX feeds on user input and learns habits to deliver a smart and efficient experience. It can be operated by “Hey Mercedes!” voice prompt and can be used to control a number of functions.
The premium SUV runs on the power pumped out by an M256, 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine. The mill churns out a maximum power of 367 hp within a rev range of 5,500 rpm to 6,100 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm between 1,600 rpm to 4,500 rpm. The mill also comes coupled with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, which outputs a maximum power of 22 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm under solid acceleration.
The GLE 4Matic version will come with an estimated price tag of RM 6,33,888.
