In addition to the new electric offering, the automaker also announced a new petrol model, the X5. While we have covered the new X5 xDrive40i M Sport in detail, here's an overview.

    New BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport

It’s time to discuss the brand’s best-selling premium SUV, which now gets a new mild-hybrid powertrain and bold design.

Powering the X5 xDrive40i M Sport is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which generates a maximum power output of 381 hp and a peak torque of 540 Nm. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds, achieving a top speed of 250 km/h. The power is sent to all the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, thanks to the xDrive AWD drivetrain.

On the design and feature front, this BMW benefits from the following advantages: a redesigned kidney grille with an iconic glow, new X-shaped DRLs, slim adaptive LED headlights, 21-inch M V-spoke wheels with performance brakes, and sculpted bumpers & air intakes. On the inside, the X5 benefits from a curved display with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 14.9-inch control screen, OS 8.5 with voice, gesture, and touch control, ‘Sensafin’ upholstery, M steering wheel, 4-zone climate control, panoramic roof, wireless charger, light bar, rocker-style gear switch, Harman Kardon audio system, and more—further, the car benefits from 650-litre boot space that is expandable to 1,870-litre.

Regarding advanced safety and driving aids, the X5 features a remote 3D view, smartphone-enabled parking path memory, Parking Assistant Professional with automatic parking & reversing assistance, and Driving Assistant Professional with adaptive cruise control, Smart Lane Assist, and Emergency Stop Assist.

No, that’s not all, as the X5 xDrive40i M Sport showcases innovative fuel-saving technology, including self-adjusting air suspension (that lowers on highways and raises off-road), energy regeneration from braking, and the VALVETRONIC system that reduces friction for better efficiency.

    What’s more?

Regardless of the BMW you choose, the brand offers more than just the vehicle, thanks to its "Relax. We Care" program. Here, all buyers will benefit from the following: a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, 5-year/100,000 km free service, a 6-year free service for EVs, an 8-year battery warranty for EVs, 24/7 BMW roadside assistance, and BMW ConnectedDrive with proactive vehicle health alerts.

Additionally, all three new models will receive over-the-air software updates, ensuring the car stays up to date without the need to visit the service centre.

    Bottom line

BMW Malaysia’s latest inclusions showcase luxury at its best. Be it the zero-emission iX or the petrol-powered X5 - the cars are fast, smart, and beautiful. If you plan to upgrade your vehicle in 2025, look no further. You can expect to see these models in showrooms soon.
