Nothing changes under the bonnet — the 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six still delivers 387 hp and 500 Nm, good for 0–100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. It’s paired to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport auto and xDrive AWD. Adaptive M suspension, M Sport differential, and Variable Sport Steering continue as standard.

What’s new is in the features list. Following in the footsteps of the refreshed 320i and 330i, the M340i now gets:
-
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
-
Sensatec synthetic leather upholstery (replacing Vernasca leather)
-
Galvanic-finished control switches
-
Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go
-
Parking Assistant Plus with 360-degree camera (previously only had Parking Assistant with reverse cam)

Also new is the BMW Operating System 8.5, which runs through the existing Curved Display setup (12.3-inch instrument cluster + 14.9-inch central screen). The display itself remains unchanged.
The rest of the car is familiar. Exterior elements include Adaptive LED headlights with Shadowline trim, M Aerodynamics package, M rear spoiler, dual exhausts, and 19-inch M double-spoke wheels with red M Sport brakes. Colour choices are unchanged: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Arctic Race Blue, and M Brooklyn Grey.
Inside, aside from the switch to Sensatec, the M340i retains its M-specific touches — sports seats with memory, M seatbelts, aluminium Rhombicle trim, M steering wheel with 12 o’clock marker, and Harman Kardon 16-speaker audio system. Features like Comfort Access, powered glass sunroof, ambient lighting, and through-loading rear seat also carry over.

Connectivity and safety remain high-spec: BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Personal eSIM, OTA update capability, and Teleservices are standard. Driver assistance includes Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, the newly added ACC with Stop & Go, and the upgraded Parking Assistant Plus.
BMW’s “Relax. We Care.” aftersales programme still applies. BSRI adds 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and 5-year/100,000 km service coverage, with the usual remote diagnostics and support via the My BMW app.
Financing options are available via:
-
BMW Easy Drive – from RM4,395/month (5-year, 80% loan) + RM5,000 first-year insurance rebate
-
Straight-Line Financing – from RM4,587/month (7-year, 80% loan), with interest from 0.5%
Both plans include access to BMW Protection+ (underwritten by Allianz), which adds coverage for theft, flood, total loss, dents, and more.
In short, this isn’t a new model — just a feature refresh to keep the M340i in step with the rest of the facelifted 3 Series range. The powertrain stays untouched, but the added tech and safety updates bring it up to 2025 expectations.
