Mercedes optimistic about S560e future
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is pretty sure that the new S-Class, a.k.a., the S560e would be well-received by the countryman. The German automaker believes that customers will embrace this clean energy, high-performance car.
Dr. Claus Weinder, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President and Chief Executive, said the all-new S560e is an integral part of Mercedes EQ Power lineup, that signifies a brand new era of mobility which does not compromise on comfort, design, luxury, driving dynamics, and design.
Weidner added, “This is the first time that we are launching the EQ series in Malaysia, and we’re happy to have the car out at such an early stage. The car was just launched in Europe and it is the first to be introduced within South-East Asia,”
Further, he said, “As there are more launches around the world, we’re confident there will be more take-ups. In terms of plug-in hybrids, we’re the first ones to bring in these kinds of cars, starting from 2015. It’s a logical consequence of what we’ve been doing and looking at other manufacturers, they are also introducing similar vehicles,”
Talking about the EQ (Electric Intelligence) range, the cars under this lineup boast comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem of innovations, products, technologies, and services.
The S560e carries an estimated price tag of RM 658,888, and per the company officials, they have already received bookings for the new EV. We want to remind you that during the launch of the S-Class EV, also showcased was the all-electric EQC 400 4Matic, and the plug-in hybrid C 300.
Mercedes-Benz is having a good sales run in Malaysia for quite some time now. The band had a 5th record consecutive year with 13,079 units sold, and the numbers are expected to go up with the introduction of the new EVs.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia became the best-selling luxury car brand in the country with 2.5% market share and 9% overall growth. In the year 2018, Mercedes sales performance was led by the locally produced sedans with 7,910 units sold. This was followed by 2,613 units of SUVs with major contributors being the GLC 200 and GLC 250. Meanwhile, its compact cars recorded total sales of 1,875 units with the brand’s Dream Cars witnessing a spectacular growth of 77 percent (662 units).
Mercedes Malaysia introduced 20 cars last year that sustains a healthy demand for its vehicles.
