Michelin Malaysia launches Primacy 5 energy and Pilot Sport 5 energy tyres for all vehicle types

KUALA LUMPUR: Michelin Malaysia has rolled out two new tyre lines built for the way people actually drive today, whether that's in a petrol car, hybrid, or full EV.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the new Michelin tyre ranges launched in Malaysia?

Michelin Malaysia has launched two new tyre ranges: the MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy and the MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy. Both are designed for all vehicle types, including petrol, hybrid, and electric vehicles.
  • What makes the MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy different from other tyres?

The Primacy 5 energy is Michelin's first AAA-rated premium tyre, earning the highest European label score for external noise, wet grip, and rolling resistance. It also has the longest tread life in its segment.
  • The MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy and MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy are now available locally, and both are designed to cover the full spread of vehicles on Malaysian roads.

MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy: triple-A rated with the longest tread life in its class

The Primacy 5 energy is Michelin's first AAA-rated premium tyre, hitting the top European label score across three categories: external noise, wet grip, and rolling resistance.

On top of that, it's built to last longer than competing tyres in the same segment, which means less frequent replacements for both petrol and electric vehicle owners.

Here's what the tyre actually brings to the table:

Quieter cabin noise. The Primacy 5 energy uses MICHELIN Silent Rib Gen-3 and MICHELIN Piano Acoustic Tuning to keep road noise down, and this holds up even as the tyre wears over time.

Wet braking that holds up when worn. MICHELIN MaxTouch technology spreads the contact patch more evenly across the road surface, which keeps braking, acceleration, and cornering forces balanced. The practical benefit is a longer-lasting tread without trading off safety.

Better fuel and range efficiency. The MICHELIN Slim Belt uses thinner top belts made with less material while keeping structural strength intact. Combined with the MICHELIN Energy Passive 2.0 compound, the result is lower rolling resistance, which translates directly to fuel savings for petrol drivers and extended battery range for EV users.

The Primacy 5 energy comes in 19 sizes for 18- to 21-inch wheels, priced from RM614 to RM1,624 at authorised Michelin dealers across Malaysia.

Florentin Odenwald, Managing Director of Michelin Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei stated: "These new tyre ranges deliver energy efficiency across all applications while maintaining sustainable performance from the first to the last mile, reinforcing Michelin's commitment to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mobility."

"The Malaysian automotive landscape is changing rapidly, with EV adoption accelerating, SUVs dominating the roads, and drivers expecting more from every component of their vehicle. The tyre ranges from Michelin are our direct response to that shift. With the MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy and MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy, we are ensuring that as the market evolves, Malaysian drivers are not left behind", added Florentin.
