NAM to export the first batch of Peugeot 3008 1.6L Active

KUALA LUMPUR: Under a new joint venture that’s being worked out between Naza Corporation Holdings and Group PSA, Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM) will now be exporting the first batch car to the ASEAN region. The Peugeot 3008 1.6L Active is the car in question and has boarded from NAM plant in Gurun, Kedah. This ‘Europen Car of the Year 2017’ is said to be launched in the Philippines somewhere around the end of this month.

Head of ASEAN & CEO of Naza Automotive Manufacturing, Groupe PSA, Laurence Noël said, “The PEUGEOT 3008 with the PEUGEOT 5008 1.6 THP are targeted to be available in the Philippines with more than 4,000 units by 2023. The Philippines is the first ASEAN country where our cars manufactured at NAM is being exported to under the AFTA.” She further said that shortly NAM would be exporting more Peugeot 3008 1.6L to other ASEAN countries.

It was in February 2018 when Groupe PSA and Naza Corporation Holdings signed a joint venture and share sale agreement that officially assigned Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM) plant located in Gurun, Kedah as the initial manufacturing hub for Groupe PSA in ASEAN.

All this gives Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM) the distribution rights of all the auto brands listed under Groupe PSA - Opel, Peugeot, DS, and Citroen for the ASEAN region. It will surely have a significant impact on Malaysia’s economy.
