New Honda Civic grabs 5-star safety rating

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new 11th generation Honda Civic is a stunning looking car with easy to impress performance figures. Now approving its safety specs sheet is the ASEAN NCAP 5-star safety rating.

Recently the new Civic was put through the programme's latest crash test wherein it registered an overall score of 83.47 points out of 100.

New Honda Civic SAFETY scores -

• Adult Occupant Protection - 36.59
• Child Occupant Protection- 18.32
• Safety Assist Technologies - 18.16
• Motorcyclist Safety assessments - 10.39

Key information about the new Civic safety test by ASEAN NCAP -

• The Civic is Honda's first and second vehicle overall to be tested under the new ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol that includes Motorcyclist Safety assessments with a 20% weightage in total score
• The Civic EL+ variant was tested by AEASN NCAP. The said model is built in Thailand and is sold in Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore

• The model's standard safety kit includes - front & side airbags, seat belt reminders, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, and Honda Sensing ADAS suite
• The programme seemed to be very impressed with the Honda Sensing ADAS suite that includes Collision Mitigation Braking System with Pedestrian & Motorcycle detection. It is the first such tech in ASEAN Region and it grabbed the sedan two additional bonus points in the Motorcycle Safety category

The 11th generation Civic is already on sale in Thailand and was recently launched in Indonesia.
