Nissan launches a new MPV in India, the Gravite

KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan has introduced a new multi-purpose vehicle in the Indian market, called the Gravite. Marking a new chapter in the Indian market, the Nissan Gravite is a purpose-built C-segment model that combines versatility, comfort, spaciousness, and practicality for everyday drives and weekend journeys. It will be manufactured locally at the brand’s Chennai plant and will be exported to several countries. 

Design 

The MPV aligns with the brand’s global design language and has a distinct, confident identity. It boasts a commanding road presence, with elevated proportions, muscular body lines, pronounced wheel arches, and high ground clearance, making it suitable for a wide range of road conditions.

The key exterior highlights include a piano black front grille, signature LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights, LED tail lights, and wide-opening doors. 

Designed for both daily commuting and longer family journeys, the Gravite can comfortably accommodate up to 7 passengers, with flexible seating configurations. The cabin is thoughtfully designed, featuring ample storage spaces that further enhance practicality and convenience.

Technology and safety

In terms of technology, the Gravite is equipped with a wide range of features, including

• Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity
• Wireless device charging
• 17.7 cm full digital driver display
• Front and rear parking sensors
• Auto door locks
• Dual dash camera
• JBL audio system
• Ambient lighting
• Air purifier

As for safety, it is packed with more than 30 standard features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Hill Start Assist, Brake Assist System and ABS with EBD.

Engine and transmission  

Under the hood of the new Nissan Gravite lies a 1-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 72 PS at 6,250 rpm and a peak torque of 96 Nm at 3,400-3,600 rpm. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed EZ-shift automated manual transmission (AMT), depending on the variant picked. 

The setup is tuned for smooth performance, comfortable cruising, and predictable performance across city and highway conditions, without compromising on fuel economy, claims Nissan.

The Nissan Gravite price ranges between Rs 5,65,000 (RM 24k) and Rs 8,93,000 (RM 38k) in India. It comes with a standard warranty of 3 years/1,00,000 km, extendable up to a segment-best 10 years/2,00,000 km.
