Presenting the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT4

Kuala Lumpur: Theophilus Chin, a resident Photoshop manipulator and self-styled digital artist in chief is in a habit of proving himself right with his predicted designs. This time also he has hit the nail on the head with much alleged 2018 Mercedes AMG GT4. The wild imaginations of Theophilus have designed this vehicle as a four-door coupe. He created this design through the hints revealed by automobilemag.com which said that Mercedes is planning to drop the CLS station wagon to make way for this AMG GT4 instead. CLS was not able to achieve the desired sales numbers so once the new CLS saloon makes a debut in 2018, Mercedes would stop producing CLS Estate.

This car is being made to steal the same segment market from next-gen Porsche Panamera, BMW M6 Gran Coupe and Audi RS 7. This german automaker felt the need to give birth to a rival which would adopt the same product planning strategy. AMG GT4 would eventually be based on a modified CLS-Class platform and would feature multiple variants instead of a single one.

Talking about the exterior, one can expect its designing to be inspired by the traditional AMG GT's trademark styling. The front radiator grille would feature a vertical chrome bar with company's insignia embossed in between. It would also be designed with an elongated wheelbase which would result in a larger boot space.

Nothing much has been revealed about the engine specifications, but one can expect it to be powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine which could churn out a power in the range of 300-400 bhp. In addition to this, a variant with V8 powerplant can also be expected in both regular and 'S' states of tune. Regarding the price, it is expected to lie somewhere between the CLS-Class and Mercedes-AMG GT flagship. To give you an idea the 'S' variant of the latter was rolled out in Malaysia with a price tag of RM1,150,000.
