Price confirmed for 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Tesla Malaysia has finally opened the ordering books for the Model 3 Performance, the most powerful Model 3 ever. Pricing of the all-electric performance sedan starts at RM 242,000 (before registration, options, and insurance charges). The deliveries are set to begin within the second quarter of the year.

So, what makes the Performance AWD trim different from the other two variants of the EV (Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range AWD) available locally?

The Performance trim is powered by a dual-motor AWD setup, which kicks out a maximum power of 460 hp. The grunt is enough to propel the EV from zero to 100 kmph in just 3.1 seconds and attain a top speed of 262 kmph. In comparison, the RWD and Long Range AWD versions hit the century sprint in 6.1 seconds and 4.4 seconds, respectively, and their top speed is limited to 201 kmph.

However, the performance trim of the EV has less range as compared to the Long Range AWD variant. While the former provides a WLTP-claimed range of 528 km, the latter impresses with its 629 km range. Notably, the RWD version runs for 513 km on a single charge.

The Tesla Model 3 Performance also boasts superior handling and performance compared to lower-spec models. Based on a bespoke chassis, the EV is equipped with an adaptive suspension system featuring adaptive dampers and specialized stabilizer bars. This configuration ensures optimal handling, especially around corners, providing the driver a sense of control and stability.

The top-spec Model 3 also gets high-performance brakes, featuring larger brake rotors and calipers, along with performance brake pads. 

In terms of exterior, the Performance AWD trim distinguishes itself with unique front and rear designs, including a rear diffuser and carbon fiber spoiler. These aerodynamic enhancements contribute to its sporty appearance and aerodynamic efficiency.

Inside the cabin, the customers get new sports seats designed to offer enhanced support and comfort during dynamic driving maneuvers. The seats feature bolstering on the sides and cushions, ensuring occupants remain securely seated even during aggressive cornering. Moreover, the front seats are equipped with ventilation, providing relief from the hot and humid Malaysian climate.

The interior is also adorned with carbon fiber accents in a weave pattern, adding a touch of luxury and sportiness. Furthermore, the inclusion of track mode in the center display screen offers a specialized user interface tailored for track use. While maintaining the signature black interior as standard, Tesla offers the option to upgrade to a white interior at an additional cost.
