Proton hits 9,503 units sales count in October 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: The famous Malaysian automaker, Proton, has recently provided its sales performance for October 2019. It claims that around 9,503 units are sold in the last month, while only 8,934 units were shifted in September 2019.

In the aforementioned sales count, both exports and domestic sales are included. Domestically, the carmaker sold around 8,685 units in September 2019. However, after the confirmation from MAA (Malaysian Automotive Association), the official numbers for exports and domestic sales in October 2019 will be revealed.

According to the carmaker, it is confident enough to hit the 100,000 unit mark in 2019. Li Chunrong, the CEO of Proton, said, “We are humbled by the response our products have received from Malaysian car buyers. In the space of just eight months, we launched our first SUV and updated all our other models, giving Proton the youngest model range for any car brand in Malaysia. The hard work has paid off with increased sales, and we are now confident of being able to sell 100,000 units this year, providing us with a solid base to move forward in 2020 and beyond.” This impressive sales performance helps the Malaysian car manufacturer to claim the second spot in the overall sales of the year.

Also, the automaker provides the sales performance of the first ten months of the year, which is now 79,833 units till October 2019. It means the sales count is increased by around 46% if we compare it with the 2018 sales count. The overall market share is now 16%, which means 5.2% increment from 2018.

The reason behind this incredible sales count is the Proton Saga, which gets over 28,000 units of booking since its launch. And last month, around 4,273 units were shifted, which is the highest in its 51 months journey.
