Proton launches ProCare Smart Plan to simplify vehicle maintenance and reduce costs

KUALA LUMPUR:  Proton, Malaysia's national carmaker, has launched the ProCare Smart Plan (PSP), a prepaid service package aimed at helping new and existing customers manage their vehicle maintenance costs more efficiently.

Currently available for the Proton Saga, Proton X90, and the Proton X70, the plan promises savings of up to RM670, depending on the model.

For new car buyers, the PSP offers a choice of three- or five-year packages. These prepaid plans provide capped running costs for vehicle maintenance, ensuring that services are carried out at Proton's authorized 3S and 4S service centers.

All work will be conducted by trained technicians using genuine Proton parts. Proton claims this approach offers savings of up to 15% compared to regular service packages.

Additionally, if a car is sold while the PSP is still active, the remaining benefits are transferable to the new owner, provided the plan is still within its validity period.

Existing Proton owners are not left out either, with similar prepaid service packages available for vehicles already on the road. However, these plans are limited to two-year intervals and offer savings of up to RM350, depending on the model.

Currently limited to the Saga, X90, and X70, Proton has indicated that the PSP will eventually be extended to other models in its lineup.

This could make the plan a compelling option for a wider range of Proton owners in the future.

Flexible Financing Options

For customers who wish to purchase the PSP after acquiring their vehicles, Proton has introduced financing options.

The Fixed Payment Plan (FPP) allows payments to be spread over 24 months through the Affin Avance Proton credit card.

Alternatively, customers can opt for an installment plan via Direct Lending, a Shariah-compliant digital lending platform, with monthly repayments of up to 12 months. Terms and conditions apply.

According to Edmund Lim, Vice President of Sales and After Sales at Proton Edar, the ProCare Smart Plan reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing the ownership experience.

“Proton remains focused on making improvements to the product and services offering to our customers, and the ProCare Smart Plan is the latest example of these efforts. It combines industry-leading levels of after-sales service at Proton outlets with peace of mind for the customer, knowing that scheduled maintenance costs for their vehicles are capped for the next three or five years. This not only assists in better budget management but also helps to increase the retained value of the vehicle,” he said.

The PSP aims to address the rising costs of vehicle ownership while providing convenience and flexibility for Proton customers.
