Subaru to unveil new models at Tokyo Auto Salon 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: Earlier this year, Subaru unveiled its first electric car, the Solterra, developed in collaboration with Toyota. While the latter recently teased as many as 15 upcoming electric models, Subaru is also geared up to reveal a range of new concept cars at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon. The show focuses on performance car models and aftermarket tuning products will take place between 14 to 16 January 2022 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

Subaru Corporation with its motorsport subsidiary Subaru Tecnica International (STI) will unveil a high-performance EV concept at the show, which is named “STI E-RA CONCEPT.” It is the brand’s study model for future motorsport vehicles, which has been developed to gain experience and practice in new technologies in the world of motorsport. It will pave the brand’s way towards a carbon-neutral era. 

At the Subaru/STI booth, we will also see a bunch of STI performance models, equipped with STI performance parts that make them sportier and deliver greater enjoyment. These include 

• Subaru WRX S4 STI performance concept - Based on the WRX S4 STI SPORT R guise, this performance concept is customized with STI performance parts such as a cherry-red under spoiler, a carbon rear spoiler, and a performance muffler that brings out the ultimate sense of unity.
• Subaru Levorg STI performance concept - It underpins the Levorg STI SPORT R grade and is customized with STI performance components like cherry-red under spoiler and performance muffler, offering an optimal combination of utility and performance. Also equipped with some special items enhancing the utility of a wagon.
• Subaru BRZ STI performance - Based on the Subaru BRZ S grade, the car is equipped with STI performance parts. It also features cherry red trimming to express its sporty driving characteristics.

What else? The Toyko show will also display the actual SUBARU BRZ GT300 2021 model. The car was participated in the Super GT 2021 series and brought the Subaru team its first-ever series championship in 2021.
