Thailand gets the new Honda WR-V; is Malaysia next?

KUALA LUMPUR: After making its Indonesian launch late last year, Honda has finally launched the new WR-V in Thailand with Malaysia still waiting for its fair share of treats.

Variants & Price

In Thailand, the new WR-V is available in two variant options - SV and RS. The car retails for a starting price of THB 799,000 (around RM 104k).

Engine

Powering the new Thai-spec WR-V is a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine generating a max power output of 121 hp along with a peak torque of 145 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT) UNIT.

The compact 5-seater benefits from several standard features including -

• Leather steering wheel with tilt adjustment

Safety

One of the key highlights of the new WR-V is that the car comes equipped with the brand’s Honda Sensing ADAS Suite of driver assistance features. The list includes -

• Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) system
• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
• Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN) system

Honda WR-V in Malaysia

Malaysia is expected to get the new Honda WR-V soon with the car spotted several times in the country with camouflage. Once launched, the compact Honda will go up against the popular Perodua Ativa.
