2023 Honda CR-V ASEAN debut at Bangkok International Motor Show 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, Honda is all set to bring the 6th gen Honda CR-V to this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show. Thus marking the car’s ASEAN debut with Thailand being the first market to receive the new model.

The news was confirmed by the automaker via a brief announcement including two teaser images. The best part was the little specifications about the Thai-spec 2023 CR-V which was also revealed by the automaker.

For instance, the Thai-spec model will be powered by a 2.0-litre e:HEV hybrid unit and a 1.5-litre VTEC turbo engine. The former mill will house the range-topping RS variant, while the latter will be seen in other variants.

Based on the international specifications, the e:HEV hybrid mill on the CR-V will generate a maximum power of up to 207 hp and a peak torque of 371 Nm. In the Malaysian-spec 2023 Civic e:HEV RS hybrid, however, the same unit makes 184 hp and 315 Nm of torque. As for the 1.5-litre turbo engine, it has been carried over from the pre-facelift model and like earlier boasts 193 hp and 242 Nm.

Drive in both the powertrain options is sent to the wheels via a CVT gearbox (e-CVT for the hybrid option). On the turbocharged option, the car will get an all-wheel drive option. Another key inclusion is the presence of the Honda Sensing advanced driver assist system (standard across all variants).

The actual specifications of the Thai-spec 2023 Honda CR-V will be revealed on 22nd March 2023, with the actual model’s launch.

Honda CR-V in Malaysia

We are expecting to get the all-new CR-V in the local market in the later months of this year. The SUV is expected to arrive in the same hybrid option as the Thai-spec model.
