This car is the safest small family car as per the 2022 Euro NCAP

KUALA LUMPUR: At the Euro NCAP safety test, the Ora Good Cat secured a five-star rating. If you think it is impressive, wait. The Chinese car is also recognized as the safest small family car by the agency.

In the Small Family Car Category of the European safety assessment, the Ora Good Cat is named ‘best-in-class’. Thus leaving behind big names like Honda Civic and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.

Thus making it the one and only Chinese model to make it to the top of the 2022 Euro NCAP ratings.

Ora Good Car's safety ratings were the highest among its competitors in the segment, here are the scores justifying the same -

Adult occupant protection test	92%
Child occupant protection test	83%
Pedestrian protection test	74%
Safety assist system test	93%

The car’s outstanding safety rating is attributed to its impressive driver-assist features. The UK-spec Ora Good Cat benefits from features like -

• Adaptive cruise control with lane-centering functionality
• Autonomous emergency braking
• Rear cross-traffic alert with autonomous braking
• Lane change assist
• Blind spot detection
• Traffic sign recognition

In Malaysia, the Ora Cat Good arrived in November 2022 and is offered in two variants - 400 Pro and 500 Ultra.

Safety-wise, both the trims come equipped with six airbags as standard along with a set of advanced driver assistance features which consist of adaptive cruise control with intelligent turning and traffic jam assist, autonomous emergency braking with intersection support, lane keeping, and lane centering assist, and a “wisdom dodge” system. The range-topping variant gets a few extra bits like additional front parking sensors, a “full-auto” integrated parking system, auto-reversing assistant, lane-change assist, emergency lane keeping, blind-spot detection, and rear-cross traffic alert and braking.

Powering the Ora Good Cat is a single electric motor that drives the front wheels generating a max power of 143 hp along with a peak torque of 210 Nm. The setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds.
