Toyota Malaysia introduces a new Hilux variant - 2.8 Black Edition

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota Malaysia recently added a new trim to the alreday extended Hilux lineup - the 2.8 Black Edition. This new trim replaces the Hilux 2.8 L-Edition and brings along a lot of additions, distinguishing it from the rest.

On the outside, the car features a more robust appearance all thanks to the new black and grey exterior color theme. While the dark grey splash can be seen on the bumper guards, a gloss black finish is seen on the door handles, wing mirrors, fog lamp covers, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The grille is done in dark grey with contrasting black highlights that make it stand out.

Priced at RM 139,888, the new Hilux 2.8 Black Edition sits on top of the Toyota pickup range. Other models included in the Hilux range are - 2.4 L-Edition A/T, 2.4 Single Cab M/T, 2.4 G M/T, and 2.4 G A/T, they are priced between RM 90,000 to RM 124,888.

The new Toyota Hilux variant gets black interior with combination leather seats. Plus the 8-way power-adjustable driver seat offers an extraordinary level of luxury and comfort. Adding to driver’s comfort is the leather-wrapped, tilt and telescopic steering with multi-functional controls.

Maintaining a balanced environment inside is the automatic air-con system and rear ducts. The new infotainment system comes with a 6.75-inch display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Also, included in its specs sheet is the smart entry and start system, upper glovebox with cooling function, cruise control, front digital video recorder, and rear tip-up seats.

The safety kit consists of 7 SRS airbags, a vehicle telematics system, Hill-start Assist Control, security system, Emergency Stop Signal, and Brake Assist, Traction Control System, Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Trailer Sway Control. Helping the cart with its off-road adventures is the 4WD Transfer Dial, Downhill-Assist Lock, Active Traction Control, Rear Differential Lock, and greatly enhanced suspension setup.

The tough-looking new Hilux Black Edition gets an equally fierce engine setup - a 2.8-litre Intercooler VNT pooping a maximum power of 177 PS along with a peak torque of 450 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift.
