Zero GST effect: Peugeot brings down prices of its car models by up to RM 11,000

KUALA LUMPUR:  You might be hearing about a lot of discounts being offered on various cars by manufacturers on account of the abolishment of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) act by the Malaysian government. That is only a matter of time before the SST comes back into effect. For the time being, customers can reap the benefits. With the onset of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the deal sweetens further. Peugeot is the latest manufacturer to offer their cars at a lower price.

 

Naza has dropped in a list of the Peugeot cars that will be available on a discount starting from June 1, 2018. A quick glance at the sheet says that nearly all the prices are down by around RM 5,000 to RM 11,000. The biggest beneficiary is the Peugeot 508 SW THP that retails for around RM 10,500 less than before. Add Raya benefits and the 508 is a steal for RM 55,419 less off the price tag. The freshly launched Peugeot 5008 also sees a price reduction by RM 10,000. Naza is bestowing the Raya benefits on all but the 5008. Even the cars used in 2017’s SEA games are being offered at huge discounts.

It looks like the next few days will be spent by manufacturers sending in releases about the price cut. There will be an encore once the SST sets in. But at that time, the smiles on the face may not be there.
