Kuala Lumpur: Honda has finally pulled wraps off its 2016 Civic Sedan in Los Angeles. Honda has claimed this 10th generation Civic to be one of the most ambitious remake in their 43-year history. In addition to this, the automaker has also confirmed that the Honda Civic Type R is also in the pipeline and would be launched soon.
Under the hood, a choice of two petrol engines would be offered with the all-new Civic Sedan. The first engine naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four cylinder engine which would be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox. The other one being a turbocharged 1.5-litre inline four-cylinder engine would be mated to a CVT gearbox. Although the power figures are yet to be disclosed by this Japanese automaker but the 1.5-litre engine is considered to be one of the most powerful ever to be offered in America.

Going by the exterior, 2016 Honda Civic would feature a more athletic stance with its lower and wider proportions. Towards the front fascia, one can notice a single-piece horizontal bar that runs throughout the length of the grille. Its sloping roofline give it a coupe-like shape which flows down to meet the C-shaped LED taillights. Talking about the dimensions, the new Civic is 51 mm wider and has a wheelbase which is 30.5 mm longer. It is also 25 mm lower as compared to its predecessor and gets additional 51 mm worth of rear legroom.
All these increased dimensions result in an increase of 105 litres in interior space. Further, 60:40 split-folding rear seats are available in certain trims which increase the boot capacity by 74 litres. Its centre console features a 7 inch HD touchscreen with Apple CarPaly and Android Auto support. Standard equipment includes automatic climate control, auto up-down front windows and electronic parking brake with Brake Hold. Moreover, it is also integrated with Honda Sensing safety platform which includes Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow function.
