2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid SE Infrared Edition debuts in the US

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota has expanded the Corolla Hybrid lineup in the US with the addition of an all-new trim called the Infrared Edition. The special edition model is based on the newly added SE trim and features cosmetic enhancements inside and out. It will go on sale later this year.

Let’s have a look at the unique highlights of the new Corolla Hybrid SE Infrared Edition.

• The special Corolla flaunts bright red accents on the front and rear bumper as well as side skirts, accentuating the car’s sporty look 
• The cabin is decked up with a red-stitched gear shift handle along with red floor mats and door trims
• The car also benefits from a sport suspension setup and the firmer-feel Electronic Power Steering
• Available in both FWD and AWD versions, the Corolla Infrared Edition rolls on 18-inch Gloss Graphite-coloured alloy wheels as standard 

• It is available in three exterior shades - Ice Cap, Midnight Black Metallic and the all-new Underground 

Under the hood of the new Corolla Hybrid SE Infrared Edition lies a 1.8-litre four-cylinder mill paired with two motor generators and a lithium-ion battery pack. Combinedly, the hybrid setup delivers a maximum power output of 136 PS and a peak torque of 211 Nm. The available drive modes are - Eco, Normal and Sport.

Besides introducing the new Infrared Edition, Toyota also updated the regular Corolla models, which now feature the new Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. The upgraded ADAS package includes a new Proactive Driving Assist with Obstacle Anticipation Assist and Deceleration Assist.

Also new for the 2023 model year is the next-generation Toyota Audio Multimedia system featuring an 8-inch high-resolution display with added capabilities such as standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and an intelligent voice assistant. Among the other updates are new a standard Smart Key, red interior accents, and enhanced Sport driving mode tuning.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid price in the US starts at $22,800, which is approximately equal to RM 107,707.
