KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi has finally opened the ordering books for the long-awaited Xpander facelift in Malaysia. The new model promises to build on the success of its predecessors, which has become a popular choice among Malaysian buyers.

The Mitsubishi Xpander directly competes with the Toyota Veloz and Perodua Alza in the MPV segment.The upcoming 2024 Mitsubishi Xpander facelift will be available in a sole Plus variant that carries a special estimated introductory price of RM 115,000 (on the road and without insurance).
So, what does the new Xpander facelift bring to the table?
Starting with the exterior, the upgraded SUV has made some significant improvements here. The Dynamic Shield front fascia now boasts a redesigned grille setup and revised LED positioning lights. The blocky headlights are replaced by stylish T-shaped units. On the rear lies the new T-shaped rear lights with illumination tube, a revamped bumper, and a tailgate spoiler, whereas the sides are donned with the new 17-inch alloy wheels and silver side skirts.
Size-wise, the new Xpander is 4,475 mm long, 1,730 mm wide, and 1,750 mm tall. The wheelbase is measured at 2,775 mm wheelbase. The ground clearance of the MPV is now the highest in the segment at 220 mm.
The cabin also benefits from several new and improved elements, including a new Horizontal Axis Design dashboard and premium materials. Other key highlights include -

On the mechanical front, the upcoming 2024 Mitsubishi Xpander features a 1.5-litre MIVEC naturally-aspirated engine, which is capable of generating a maximum power of 105 PS and a peak torque of 141 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of safety, the vehicle comes with all required safety gears. The list includes - SRS airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, hill start assist, an emergency stop signal system, active stability control, attraction control system, and cruise control.
Locally assembled in Pekan, the new Xpander facelift is slated to launch in Malaysia later this month.
