BMW M2 and X4 M40i to Make a Debut at 2016 Detroit Auto Show

Kuala Lumpur: BMW M2 and X4 M40i are all set to make their world debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show scheduled to be held on January 11 at Detroit COBO Center. These new models would be joined by the X1, plug-in 330e, i8, i3 and 7 Series which was spotted earlier in Malaysia. Talking about BMW M2, under the hood it would be powered by a M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power of 365 hp at 6500 rpm along with a peak torque of 465 Nm at just 1400 rpm. Moreover, this engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and an optional M Double Clutch Transmission that helps it to complete a century sprint in 4.3 seconds along with a top speed of 250 kmph.

Moving further, the X4 M40i is employed with a M Performance TwinPower Turbo 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine which is capable of delivering a maximum power of 355 hp at 5800 to 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 465 Nm. Further, it is mated to an 8-speed STEPTRONIC transmission along with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. From a position of halt, it reaches an acceleration of 100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds along with a top speed of 241 kmph. Like all the other X4 models, X4 M40i is also fitted with xDrive all-wheel drive.

All these models would also get an array of safety features, emergency braking system and adaptive cruise control. Technology package would include BMW ConnectedDrive, TwinScroll turbo technology and intelligent xDrive. Although nothing much has been revealed about the pricing aspect, but it would be announced once the car reaches US in February 2016.
