KUALA LUMPUR: 2021 Women's World Car of the Year final shortlist is out now, it includes winners from across nine different categories. Part of this list is cars like Kia Sorento, new Skoda Octavia, Land Rover Defender, among others.

While Skoda Octavia was voted the Best Family Car, Land Rover Defender and Kia Sorento were announced as the best medium and large SUVs, respectively.

Before moving forward, let's first know a bit about Women's World Car of the Year. It is the only award group around the globe that comprises only women automotive journalists. Its objective is simple, i.e., to choose the best car of the year. Explaining WWCOTY, the organisation statement read, "These are not ‘women’s cars’ because there is no such thing. Instead, cars are chosen based on the principles that guide all consumers, including safety, quality, price, design, driving dynamics, and environmental impacts.”

This year WWCOTY made up for the 11th edition of the awards and it was headed by 50 prominent female automotive journalists, from 38 different countries.

Who are the winners selected?

Well, winners in each category were picked based on excellence presented by the car in certain areas like comfort, technology, safety, and value for money. Before narrowing to a single winner, the jury shortlisted three models in each category.
