Check out the cool rooftop tents available for Mini Cooper and Countryman

KUALA LUMPUR: As the summer approaches, the holiday trips around the countryside are set to be high on the priority list for many people seeking relaxation. And, the desire to relax in nature demands camping. Keep this in mind, the BMW-owned Mini has come up with cool rooftop tents for two of its models - the Countryman All4 PHEV and the all-electric Cooper SE. Emission-free driving fun is the main idea behind the new offering.

The roof tents can be easily mounted on the car’s roof rails with the appropriate railing rack. The tents are not very spacious but they would allow excursions into the countryside without the hassle of towing a trailer.

According to Mini, the tent is quite easy and quick to open. With the help of gas springs, the structure lifts automatically when the safety catches given on the housing are released. After that, the eight rungs of the fold-out aluminum ladder can be quickly climbed to reach the shelter. Inside it lies two comfortable sleeping berths with windows on the sides. The occupants can roll up the windows if they feel the heat and yeah don't bother about the insects, as there are mosquito nets in front of them, so no pests can enter the tent. Isn't it cool?

In the luggage compartment, customers can store sleeping bags, luggage, and provisions for longer camping trips for two. Upon folding down the rear seat backrest, this space is expandable from 211 to 731 litres.

Thinking about charging? Well, no need to worry about this as well because many campsites are now equipped with charging points. Mini says, “Nature lovers can enjoy the beauty of the landscape on a hiking tour without worrying, while their electrified Mini charges up fresh energy to complete the onward journey to the next campsite or the drive home in the most sustainable way possible.”

The tents, as well as roof rails, can now be purchased through the Mini Original Accessories range. But the sad part is that these are only available in the European market so far.
