Chery’s TIGGO Hybrid SUVs complete worldwide endurance tour

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery’s Super Hybrid (CSH) “Endless Horizons” Global Endurance Drive has officially completed its 2025 season, ending a months-long journey that started in Taiyuan, Shanxi and concluded at the company’s international headquarters in Wuhu—just ahead of the Chery International User Summit.

Launched in April, the CSH drive began with a Chongqing-to-Wuhu run and went on to span Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, covering over 20 countries and more than 20,000 km.

This wasn’t a sightseeing trip. It was a rolling stress test for Chery’s latest plug-in hybrid technology, putting its TIGGO 7 PHEV CSH, TIGGO 8 PHEV CSH, and TIGGO 9 PHEV CSH models through deserts, plateaus, and rainforests to evaluate real-world efficiency, endurance, and adaptability.

For the final leg—roughly 1,400 km across China—drivers from over 20 nations including Malaysia, Thailand, Greece, Brazil and Kazakhstan took the wheel. The route mixed mountain switchbacks, expressways, and quiet provincial roads, reflecting the variety of driving conditions the cars were built to handle.

Participants also sampled Chery’s newest features, such as external power supply, Automatic Parking Assist (APA), and improved NVH refinement. To ensure transparency, every car’s fuel tank was sealed before the start, with daily consumption updates shared via Chery International’s social platforms.

By completing the CSH Global Endurance Drive, Chery closes out its 2025 global hybrid showcase—one that underlines the brand’s focus on developing hybrid systems designed for consistency and confidence over long distances.

Chery Malaysia recently expanded its electrified line-up in Malaysia with the launch of the Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV, both locally assembled (CKD) at Inokom, Kulim.

Priced at RM 129,800 and RM 159,800 respectively, the pair join the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro petrol models to give buyers a broader range of powertrain choices. Both plug-in hybrids share Chery’s CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) system — a 1.5-litre turbocharged TGDi Miller-cycle engine paired with a 204 PS / 310 Nm electric motor through a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT150).

Combined output stands at 275 PS and 365 Nm (279 PS for the Tiggo 7 PHEV), powered by an 18.3 kWh LFP battery offering up to 90 km EV-only range and a total hybrid range of 1,200 km. Fast-charging from 30–80% takes just 19 minutes via DC, while both SUVs feature 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.

Industry insiders are also already pointing to the next arrival — the Tiggo 9 PHEV, Chery’s flagship seven-seater SUV — which is strongly rumoured to be previewed in Malaysia soon, following its debut in China earlier this year with a 381 PS hybrid setup and around 90 km of electric range.
